This is the page to find dates, fees,
directions, etc. for an upcoming troop activity. Registered troop
members can log into the Members Section and view the actual roster for
the trip. These are usually posted about a day after the money is
collected.
We will take the canoes and maybe even the sailboat along for
a weekend of fun and water adventure. We will be in the
Muskrat Cove site. This is a great weekend for anyone
planning to do a First Class Camp or get some of those Cooking
requirements out of the way!
This is also the trip where elections will be held for Senior
Patrol Leader and Patrol Leaders. So make sure you are
there to cast your vote for who will be running your program for
the next six months!
Morrison
Run Backpacking Trip October 16-17, 2010 Cost = $10
This
is a real live backpacking trip where you carry everything
in and camp on the shores of the Allegheny Reservoir. With
a little preparation and the right gear, ANY SCOUT can do this
trip!
Once again, we will have
our annual Christmas Party at the Ali Babba Grotto Hall on
Perkins-Jones Road - just down from the K-Mart distribution center.
All family members are invited.
From 2-5 p.m. that
afternoon Scouts will play games and other fun activities - ranging
from indoor board games to the annual football game outside. Troop
Historians will have troop scrapbooks on display. There will be
Coleman equipment available for sale as well.
At 5:30, we will sit
down to a covered dish dinner. Someone from Eagle's Wings should
call you regarding what to bring. You will also be asked how many
adults/children in your party will be attending. Please label all
serving dishes and utensils. Many families bring in the same
items. We will provide plates, cups forks, knives, and spoons.
Scouts should plan to bring their uniforms and change before we eat.
We will follow the
dinner with our Winter Court of Honor. Besides the regular awards
the boys have earned, we will award the prizes for the top sellers
from this year s fundraisers. We will close with a slideshow of
recent campouts. We hope everyone can attend!
Be at Mr. P's House at 9:30 in
full uniform. We will load the presents and deliver them to
the families we adopted. You will receive service hour credit
for this.
All family members are welcome to
attend. Pack 101 also has a standing invitation. We provide the food and the fun.
You provide the tent and your personal gear. We even have
loaner tents for troop families as well as a loaner Scout who
knows how to set it up! Come swim, fish, canoe, sail, play
volleyball, or just relax beside the lake.

Canada Base Camp
Algonquin Provincial Park
August
13-21, 2011
Documents to get into Canada and Back:
Youth (under 18)
will need an original Birth Certificate plus a
notarized letter.
The troop will provide the letter & notary.
Adults will need a
Passport or a
Passport Card
The Passport Card is more economical if you do not foresee needing a
passport in the future. As of this writing, it cost $55.
Check out the links for details. You should APPLY EARLY to
ensure you have it on time.
In addition, all Youth will need to stay with
the group when we cross both ways.
Otherwise they will need additional letters to cross.
This is the troop's signature big trip. We first
did this trip in 1975 and this will be our 19th trip back. The
troop will base camp for the week on the shores of Whitefish Lake.
Each morning there will be visits to interpretive trails, the
museum, the outfitter's store, etc. Afternoons and evenings
will be spent with our canoes, sailboat, swimming, volleyball on the
beach, etc. We will highlight our cooking skills this week
with a chance to complete almost all of Cooking Merit Badge in a
single week as well as a troop-wide feast on our last day.
Scouts will also take a canoe out-trip one day during the week.
Wildlife abounds in this Canadian wilderness and Scouts will likely
see moose, loons, and maybe even a black bear. There is a wolf
howl one evening where they will learn about and possibly hear one
of Algonquin's three wolf packs. There is no trip quite like
this one and Scouts and Patrols come back as much better campers
than when they left.
HIGH ADVENTURE CANOE OPTION August 10-13, 2011 (Approximate dates)
Scouts who are FIRST CLASS with SWIMMING and CANOEING MERIT
BADGES are eligible to go up sometime the previous week. Dr.
LaPolla will be leading a canoe trip into the park interior where
Scouts will take all their gear, food, etc. and paddle and portage
between these remote lakes. The trip is physically
challenging, but anyone who has ever done it considers it among
their finest experiences in Scouting. This trip is limited in
size and anyone wishing to attend must be physically able to meet
the requirements. Canoeists will arrive on Whitefish Lake the
same Saturday evening that the troop arrives for Base Camp.
After a celebration and steak dinner, they will integrate into the
regular patrols for the coming week. Anyone wishing more
information should contact
Dr. LaPolla.
