Our early beginings
Troop 101 started in 1975 and quickly grew to over 40 members. We have been much bigger over the years and sometimes a bit smaller. In 2005 the troop celebrated it's 30th anniversary and our 101st Eagle Scout. We are a very active troop and we camp every month.
Because we are so active, we have a good deal of equipment. This includes 2 gear trailers, 17 canoes on 2 trailers, and all the tents and camping gear that it takes to support the program. This way we can do many different things with our own gear and keep the cost for activities down, so that all families may have the chance to participate and grow through the scouting experience.
We also do our share of community service. We have annual projects for Memorial Day, Flag Day, and a Salvation Army Christmas project. Additionally, with over 100 Eagle Scouts performing a service project of more than 100 hours each, we have put in over 10,000 hours of service just with those.
We have several Assistant Scoutmasters, a large and very active Troop Committee as well as affiliations with Eagle's Wings and our Alumni Association. We hope to continue our tradition of serving area youth for many years to come.
